Greetings,

My name is Jelani Herndon. As a senior in high school, my goals are to consistently excel academically, maintaining an impressive 3.8 G.P.A. My creativity shines through my passion for fashion and art, in which I skillfully express in my daily life. Beyond academics, I am a dedicated athlete, actively participating in tennis, volleyball, and track. My love for sports is matched by my love for travel, which was enriched through my travel to Ghana in 2019, the Year of Return. It was a celebration held in Ghana, West Africa. This celebration commemorated the four hundred year arrival of the first slave ship, which docked in Georgetown, Virginia in 1619. My family and I were able to walk the slave route of our ancestors, through the “Door of no Return”. In 2021, I spent one year living in Ethiopia, in which I was homeschooled and maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. Living in Ethiopia as a young teen was an incredible experience that shaped me in many ways. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture, learning about the unique customs and traditions that make Ethiopia so special. Adapting to a new lifestyle taught me resilience and opened my eyes to the beauty of diversity. I also began learning the local language, which deepened my connection to the people and the community around me. This experience broadened my perspective and enriched my life in ways I will always cherish.

As I prepare to graduate from high school, I have set my sights on attending a University where I will undoubtedly continue to thrive and grow. It is a great honor for me to be a part of Dream Girls, an organization that will help me along with my family values to cultivate and continue to become a virtuous and God-centered Christian young lady. Through learning etiquette and manners, I am committed to living a life that reflects strong values and faith.

I am thrilled to share that on November 24, 2024, I will be presented as a Vessel of Honor at the Annual Dream Girls Debutante Gala, alongside other beautiful young ladies. This event is a significant milestone in my life journey, and I am deeply honored to be part of it.

To make this occasion even more special, I am working towards a fundraising goal of $1,000. Your support would mean the world to me, and I would be incredibly appreciative of any contribution you could make.
